From 1951 to 1954, Earl "Madman" Muntz produced 394 of the most beautiful, unusual cars ever made, according to an article by Dan Jedlicka of Road Tests and Classic Cars. Today Muntz cars are rare and valuable collector's items.
The Muntz Jet had it all - even a liquor bar! At $5,500 (in 1951), it cost substantially more than a top-of-the-line Cadillac.
Muntz later reported in 1969 that he had lost $1,000 per car, because he never could get production volumes up to the point where they'd be profitable. He had to shut down production in 1954.
